Parents and carers from across the borough are invited to drop-in to a special information evening on 11 February to find out about high school Diplomas.

The event, at The Soccer Village, Milnrow, is primarily aimed at parents of Year 9 students who will shortly be choosing their options and will offer a chance to talk to staff and current students undertaking diplomas.

Diplomas are an exciting qualification and since their launch in 2008, schools across Rochdale are now offering seven different Diplomas: Creative and Media, Construction and the Built Environment, Engineering, Hair and Beauty Studies, Information Technology, Society, Health and Development, Sport and Active Leisure. Each involves hands-on learning, in and out of the classroom and many local employers are involved in their planning and delivery.

Councillor Zulfiqar Ali, Cabinet Member for Children. Schools and Families at Rochdale Borough Council said:

“This event is part of a week of Diploma sessions and I would encourage all parents and carers to come along as they play an important part of any decision a student makes about their future”.

Parents can call in for anytime between 4pm – 7pm on Thursday 11 February at the Soccer Village in Milnrow. For more information contact 01706 925189.
