Equalities - assessment and consultation
Equality Impact Assessments on policies and practices
As part of our approach to equality impact assessment on
policies and practices we have developed a framework for assessing
our policies and practices and their impact upon disabled people,
those from
BME
communities and on men and women of all ages and young people. This
framework includes consulting with stakeholders and involving them
in the development of targets and actions to address the findings
of these assessments.
Services examine their policies and procedures with the aim of
preventing discriminatory outcomes or unmet needs and fulfil the
council’s statutory duties under the Disability Discrimination Act
2005, the Race Relations Amendment Act 2000 and the Gender Duty set
out in the Equality Act 2006.
Further details on our approach to undertaking equality impact
assessments are provided in our Single Equality Scheme
2007-2010.
