The Right to Buy is a Government run scheme that allows some tenants to purchase the property that they rent from the Council. For eligible tenants the price of the property will be offered at a price lower than the full market value.

Who is eligible?

If you have been a secure council tenant for at least two years (or five years if you became a tenant after 18 January 2005) you are likely to have the Right to Buy your council home at a discount.

Who cannot buy?

What discount will I receive?

The amount of discount you could receive depends on the amount of time that you have been a tenant.

A full guide to your right to buy your home is available on the Department for Communities and Local Government's website.

If you would like an application form for the Right to Buy your Council property, please use the contact details at the top of this page.
