Local land charges - personal search
This page is designed to help and assist those undertaking
Personal Searches.
The statutory fee for a Personal Search is £11. Cheques should
be made payable to Rochdale Borough Council. The Land Charges
section will issue a receipt.
Personal searches are done on an appointment basis; all
appointments are made by telephoning Legal and Democratic Services,
Land Charges.
The information that must be given over the telephone is:
- The full address of the property/site to be searched
against
- The name of the person/company making the request
- A contact telephone number
The appointment times are 10am, 10.30am, 11am, 2pm and 2.30pm
daily. Appointments should be made 24 hours in advance and four
properties can be booked in at any one appointment. Appointments
are made on a first come first served basis. A personal searcher
can only make one appointment a day.
No changes will be made to the set appointment times. The Local
Land Charge office is closed between the hours of 12pm and 2pm
every day.
It is necessary for a site plan of any properties or land to be
sent to Land Charges section before the appointment. This helps the
Land Charges staff to find any records on the Local Land Charges
register. Plans should be faxed to the Land Charges
section, without a plan a search cannot be completed.
On your behalf a Local Land Charges Officer will locate any
relevant records of any matters on the computerised Land Charge
Register and provide a printed document. You are advised to also
check the manual Land Charge Register and make notes of any entries
that as yet are not held on the computerised system
A personal search only allows inspection of the Local Land
Charges Register. We will however notify Planning and Regulation
Services of the time and properties/land a particular appointment
is for.
Please note that replies to Form Con29 will not be given on a
personal search.
