Handyperson scheme

You can get help to carry out a wide range of minor household repairs if you qualify.

There are four main work types:

  • Minor repairs - for example, leaking gutters, replacing tap washers
  • Crime prevention and home security - for example, door locks, chains, window locks, security lights
  • Home safety - for example, loose floorboards, trailing cables
  • Energy efficiency - for example, draught proofing of windows and doors, tank lagging

Painting, decorating and gardening are not included within the scheme.

Am I eligible?

You can get help and advice with property maintenance and repairs if you are 60 or over, disabled, or an other vulnerable person.

What does it cost

We provide labour free of charge. In most cases you will only pay for materials. There is no charge for crime prevention measures for example, door locks, chains).
