Advice on housing options
If you need any help or information on your housing options we
can arrange a 'Housing Options interview' - contact us using the
details on this page.
The service is free, impartial and confidential. Interviews will
be conducted in private interview rooms and if necessary a same sex
officer will be available to offer advice. If required we can
arrange to visit you in your own home.
If you can’t afford to buy your first home, there are government
schemes in England that can help. Find out what affordable home
ownership schemes are available and if you qualify to buy a home
this way.
We do not have any council housing stock in the borough. All
social housing needs are met by social housing providers in the
area.
You can get a list of providers from the
Tenant Services Authority.
Find out how the Bond Board can help. A Bond is a written
guarantee that takes place of a cash deposit. It will pay the
landlord if there are rent arrears or damage at the end of a
tenancy.
Find out if the property you are in or wish to rent is an
accredited property.

Mortgages and repossessions
Advice, information and emergency accommodation is available for
anyone who has experienced, or is experiencing domestic abuse
whether it be mental, physical or emotional abuse.

Advice
Rent arrears: We'll help with your housing
related benefits and negotiate with your landlord, where we
can.
Problems with debt: We've got trained debt
advisors who can maximise your income and negotiate with
lenders.
Housing disrepairs for private
tenants: We'll work with you help get your home
up to standard.
Being asked to leave by family and
friends: If you're living with family and
friends and have been asked to leave
we can mediate to try and help you resolve your
situation.
Tenancy support: To help you remain in your
home we can offer tenancy support. This includes such things as:
budgeting skills, access to services and benefits, training and
employment.
