premises until the problems are dealt with.
Bringing a food complaint to the Council
If you think an item of food is contaminated you may wish to
contact the Food Safety Team for advice.
- Avoid handling any foreign object, if it is embedded in the
food do not remove it.
- Keep the food in its original container where possible.
- Keep labels, wrappings and receipts.
- If the food is perishable keep it in the fridge or freezer so
that it does not deteriorate and can be examined later.
How we can help?
- We can only investigate complaints about food which was bought
in the borough.
- Some minor complaints are best resolved by taking it back to
the vendor as soon as possible
- Please be aware that we are unable to seek compensation on your
behalf.
Who else can help?
- Most manufacturers have a customer complaints department.
Ask for the matter to be investigated and an explanation
given.
- The local Citizens Advice Bureau or Consumer Direct (tel. 0845
010506) may also be able to help.
