Childminding
Childminding is a flexible childcare option that can
meet the needs of parents and children. It offers children a close
relationship with a single carer; with the minded child often a
part of a small group of children, in a home environment based in
the child's own community. There are around 300 childminders across
the borough of Rochdale.
Childminding is chosen by many parents because
it can:
- Be flexible to hours needed
- Give individual attention to each child
- Reflect cultural background
- Give continuity and stability by accessing
the child's own neighbourhood facilities
- Childminders can also take children from
birth.
The Rochdale Childminding Association, based
at Crossfield Mill, offers support to both parents and
childminders. It is committed to making childminders aware of the
importance of the job they do and ensuring parents know what good
quality childminding is.
If you require an up to date list of the
childminders in your area. Please telephone the Family Information
Service (FIS). The
FIS
can also indicate on the
list of childminders more specific information, such
as the schools they pick up from, if they take children with
special needs or any unusual hours they operate.
