Adapting homes
Adapting your home to meet your requirements can include
the provision of ramps for wheelchair access, bath handrails,
showers, wider door spaces and if necessary an extension to provide
bedroom/bathroom facilities at ground floor level. In some
situations it is possible for vertical lifts or stair lifts to be
installed. If you would like advice about adaptations you should
ask your doctor or social worker to refer you to an
Occupational Therapist in Social Care Services, or make
contact yourself (using the contact details in the right hand
column of your screen). They will establish whether your present
home can be adapted to suit your needs. Someone from Housing
Services will then arrange to visit to help and advise you if
adaptations are to be carried out.
Whether you own your own home or you are a tenant you will also
be given help and advice on any grants that may be available to
help you.
Use the links in the navigation down the left hand side of your
screen for more information on adapting homes.
