Who are Supporting People services for?

Supporting People help a wide variety of vulnerable adults who need assistance to either develop their skills and confidence so they can live independently without support or to allow them to continue living independently with the provision of ongoing support. Examples include:

  • Someone who has been previously homeless or sleeping rough
  • Someone who has been in prison or is at risk of offending may benefit from a support service
  • People with mental health needs or a learning disability
  • Women with experience of domestic violence
  • Young people at risk may need support to develop independence
  • People with drug or alcohol problems
  • People with a sensory or physical disability
  • Teenage parents
  • Older people
  • Refugees

All the above may need support arising from their different circumstances or experiences.
