Rainbow flag raising

First Time

Event details: can you remember your first time? Nathaniel can't seem to forget his. To be fair, he has had it playing on repeat for the last 15 years. Fresh from his critically acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe debut, award-winning HIV+ theatre-maker Nathaniel Hall presents this 'hilarious' and 'heartbreaking' autobiographical solo show about growing up positive in a negative world.

Stalls at Number One Riverside

Event details: a number of organisations and services, including the LGBT Foundation and Greater Manchester Police, will host information stalls with information on LGBT+ services and how organisations can support LGBT+ residents. Come along and chat with us.


Youth Pride

Date: Tuesday, 19 November 2019

Suitable for: LGBT+ residents aged 13-25.
Booking: book your Youth Pride place through Eventbrite. Tickets are FREE.
Event details: hosted by the Proud Trust, this event will offer the opportunity to meet other young LGBT+ people aged 13-25. There'll be performances, food, fun and games and the chance to get to know new people.


Springvale Youth Service workshops

Suitable for: 11-19-year-olds.
Booking: just turn up. This is a FREE event.
Event details: Rochdale Youth Service will be celebrating Pride with a series of workshops around sexuality, homophobia and transphobia, as well as looking at what diversity is and what it means to be an inclusive youth group. There will be quizzes and games.


LGBT+ History: Past and Future

Event details: Touchstones Rochdale is exploring the borough’s LGBT+ history. Why are there so many gaps in the collection? What can we do to document and build on LGBT+ past and future in the borough? Join us with digital archivist Drew Ellery from Manchester Central Libraries and conservator Pierrette Squires from Bolton Museum, who'll shine a light on some of the projects they've been working on to diversify and make more accessible the collections they work with. The event will be open to discussion afterwards to tackle what we can be doing as custodians of the collection to ensure it's more accessible and representative of the LGBT+ community in Rochdale.

Event details: hosted by Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale CCG, this event will offer training sessions and informative talks. Speakers include the LGBT Foundation, the fire service and LGBT advisor to Andy Burnham, Carl Austin-Behan.


Late night gallery social

Event details: on Friday, 22 November 2019 we'll switch on lights outside the centre and there'll be refreshments, music and games. On Friday, 29 November 2019, Springvale will be hosting a Pride party.


Priderun

Booking: register on the parkrun website if you haven't already. The event is FREE to attend. 
Event details: join us as parkrun becomes priderun!! Watergrove Reservoir is showing its support for Rochdale in Rainbows and welcomes new runners. Everyone's welcome, so come in your brightest running or walking gear. There'll be glitter and rainbow laces available on the day.


Women in Touch Dance Performance

Event details: drawing from the history of pride events globally, the Women in Touch dance group have created a piece about unity and equality inspired by the current Peterloo commemorations. Their procession will run from the Yorkshire Street entrance of the Wheatsheaf and through the shopping centre.  


boygirl x All Hands on Deck (Queer collective night)

Event details: artists boygirl and All Hands on Deck will be celebrating Rochdale in Rainbows at Touchstones Rochdale for one night only. Both collectives will take to the decks and will also host an hour of open decks to give any women, trans and non-binary people the chance to DJ. 


Asian LGBT group

Drag Queen Storytime

Event details: Drag Queen Storytime aims to capture the imagination and fun of the gender fluidity of childhood, while giving children a positive LGBT role model. The Nightbus will be reading I'm a Girl, written by Yasmeen Ismail. There'll also be opportunity to chat and take photos with The Nightbus. Tickets are FREE. Please book one ticket per child. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
