Roads - street cleaning programme
We ensure that all streets, footpaths,
open spaces and town centre areas are kept litter free. Our
aim is to keep as much of the borough as litter free as possible by
carrying out regular patrols and cleansing operations by various
manual and mechanical means.
Our multi skilled staff undertake grass
cutting across the borough as well as maintaining rose and shrub
beds. We also maintain carpet bedding and planting
schemes including main roundabouts and bringing about environmental
improvements.
Our teams work on a township basis and are
supported by our boroughwide services including:
- Litter bin provision and emptying
- Removal of flytipping
- Graffiti removal
- Safe disposal of hypodermic needles (sharps)
Enforcement
We have a team of enforcement officers
who are responsible for enforcing the council's Environmental
Enforcement Policy. Our officers investigate incidents and
wherever possible will prosecute individuals and businesses for
environmental crime such as littering, illegal dumping and
flyposting.
