Bulky waste collections
Before you request a bulky household
collection why not donate it to a charity shop or see if
anyone can make use of it. Type 'Freecycle' or 'Freeuse' into your
favourite search engine and see if anyone locally can make use
of your bulky refuse. Any bulky refuse that
we collect is not re-used but goes straight
into landfill.
You may take bulky refuse to one of the three household waste
recycling centres at Peel Lane in Heywood, Springvale in Middleton
or Chichester St in Rochdale. Please note that vehicles over 6'1''
high will NOT be able to access these sites.

any of our Customer Service Centres, or by contacting our
helpline. Contact details are given on this page.
We use an appointment system and let you know the date we will
collect your waste items.
When we collect
Our crew will collect items within 10 working
days. Items for collection must be outside your
house, but still on your property, by 7am on the date of
collection as the crew are unable to pick up from inside your house
or garage.
What we will collect for FREE
We can provide ONE FREE collection per year, (April to
March) for up to 5 bulky household items from each
household in the borough, items included in this service
could be:
- Household items
- Beds
- Mattress
- Carpets
- Cooker
- Chairs
- Suites
- Hi Fi's
- Items you would normally take with you when you move
house
What we charge for
There is a charge for the following items:
- Kitchen Units (sink unit base and top)
- £20
- Any 5 small electrical items, (such as
microwaves or TV's) £20 - (additional items are charged at £4
each)
- Fridges £20
- Washing Machines £20
- Freezers £20
- Belfast Sink - £20
- Complete Kitchen - £30
- Bedroom Furniture (fitted) - £20
- Water Tanks (plastic and metal)
- £20
- Bathroom Suite (complete) - £30
- Toilet and Cistern - £20
- Wash Basin and Stand - £20
- Bath (cast iron) - £20 (must be broken
up)
- Bath (plastic or fibreglass) - £20
- Shower Tray and panels - £20
- Garden Refuse - £20 (up to 12 bags) 75p per
bag thereafter
- Fencing - £20 (up to 5 panels) £4 per
additional panel
- Garages - £77

- Doors - £20 (up to 4) additional doors £4
