Your rubbish collections

Landfilling rubbish is a waste!

The more rubbish we send to landfill, the more we have to pay in landfill tax.

We want to spend taxpayers' money on providing essential services for your community and reduce how much we spend on landfill tax.

Let council money go further by:

  • Reducing the amount of rubbish you produce
  • Reusing anything you can
  • Recycling as much as possible

Let us help you recycle more of your rubbish

Almost everything we do creates waste and as a society we are currently producing more waste than ever before. By recycling waste we stop it going to landfill thus saving resources and cutting down on costs.

When will my rubbish be collected?

Please put your bin out by 7am on the day of collection and ensure all your rubbish is in your bin with the lid closed.

Each household is given a collection calendar annually which shows your collection dates.  If you need to order another calendar please call us using the details provided on this page; you'll need to give us your postcode.

What happens if my rubbish isn't collected?

If your rubbish isn't collected please complete our recycling and rubbish form. Once submitted we'll investigate why this has happened.

How do I request a new rubbish bin?

If your rubbish bin has been stolen or damaged please complete our recycling and rubbish form to order another bin. Most people have a large bin if you require a smaller one please ring us.

How do I keep my bin clean?

To keep your bin clean put some newspaper in the bottom of  it. It's easier to clean your bin if you lie it on its side. Some private companies offer a bin cleaning service. Please note such services have no connection with the council.

What can I put in my rubbish bin?

Most waste that cannot be reused or recycled can be put in the rubbish bin, however there are some items we cannot collect in your waste bins.

Your rubbish bin should not contain:
