Who can have a brown bin?
Brown bins are available for garden waste to all properties
apart from those on the farm or rural round. From 1 October
2011 we'll also be using yuor brown bin to collect food waste.

How can I order a brown garden waste bin?

When will my garden waste be collected?
Please put your bin out by 7am on the day of your specified
collection. Households with gardens are given a garden waste
calendar annually which shows your collection dates. If you need
another printed calendar please call us using the details provided
on this page; you'll need to give us your postcode.
What happens if my garden waste isn't
collected?
If your garden waste isn't collected we'll call back. If it
isn't collected within 24 hours please complete
our recycling
and rubbish form.
What garden waste can go in your brown
bin?
Grass, hedge and
shrub cuttings
Leaves
Flowers and plant

Twigs and small branches
(less than 9cm diameter)

What
food waste can go in your brown bin?
From October 2011 we'll be able to collect food and garden waste
from your brown bin. If you use kitchen caddy liners please ensure
that ONLY compostable liners are put into your
brown wheeled bin. These liners have a seedling logo on them or
certification number EN13432. We don't accept plastic bags, not
even degradable or biodegradable ones!

Put these into your refuse bin or take to your local
tip.

Use your home compost bin for:
- Turf and ash
- Pet bedding or straw
- Kitchen waste (vegetables or fruit, vegetables peelings, meat,
fish, poultry, bones, dairy products or cooked food)
