Commercial waste
Your duty of care
If you have a business you have a duty of care to store,
transport and safely dispose of the waste that you generate. To do
this you must ensure that the person removing your waste is from a
licensed waste collection company. Your business must provide a
written description of the waste to the person who removes it. This
is called a ‘Waste Transfer Note’ and must be completed by both
persons involved in the transfer. All reasonable steps must be
taken to store waste safely and securely.
If you pay someone to remove your rubbish and they do not have a
licence you could be prosecuted, for further information please
contact our helpline, the details are available in the contact
section of this page.
