Bulky waste collections

Don't send good furniture to landfill! Donate it instead!

Before you ask for a bulky waste collection think about donating it instead! If your furniture is in good condition and could be used again you can take it to the Chichester Street (Waithlands) Household Waste Recycling Centre and simply place it in the 're-use' container.

By donating your unwanted furniture you'll be helping us send less waste to landfill and help others in the community by providing them with quality second-hand goods.

Attention Bamford residents!

If you live in Bamford why not give your unwanted furniture to Rebuild and make a house a home for someone else? Rebuild is a charity which is trying to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill and in the process provide furniture to those who need it most.

Bulky waste collections

Please be aware any items we take as part of a bulky waste collection will NOT be reused or recycled and will go straight to landfill. That's why we encourage you to think about donating your unwanted furniture instead.

Our household waste disposal sites

You can take bulky refuse to one of the two household waste recycling centres (tips) at Springvale in Middleton or Chichester St (Waithlands) in Rochdale. Please note that vehicles over 6'6'' high will not be able to access any of these sites.

Request a bulky waste collection

If you can't take your bulky refuse to one of the three household waste sites above or it's not good enough to be donated, you can request a bulky waste collection from us. You can make a request online or call us on 0845 226 1800.

We use an appointment system, so we'll let you know the date we will collect your unwanted bulky waste items.

When we collect

Our crew will collect the items you've told us need collecting within 10 working days. Items for collection must be left outside at the front of your home (if possible) by 7am, but still keep them on your property if possible.

Items are now only collected on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Whilst we aim to collect your items within the time limit outlined above, there are times of year especially around bank holidays, Easter & Christmas when we are at our busiest in relation to requests for bulky collections. At these times of year waiting times from initial request to actual collection can take from 2 to 6 weeks.

Points to note:

  • Please note our collection crews are not able to pick up items from inside your house or garage.
  • Items such as mattresses, suites and upholstered furniture three should only be put outside on the collection day - only to avoid them getting wet and becoming too heavy to be removed by our crews.

What we will collect for FREE

We provide a free collection of up to 5 bulky household items. Items included in this service are:

  • Beds
  • Mattresses
  • Carpets
