Contaminated land register
Section 78R of the 1990 Environmental Protection Act requires us
to maintain a public register of sites determined as “contaminated
land” and remediation undertaken of such sites within its area.
The register is intended as a complete record of all regulatory
action we take to identify and reverse the environmental
damage of contaminated land.
The register will include:
- Determination documents
- Notices of determination
- Remediation notices
- Appeals against remediation notices
- Remediation declarations
- Remediation statements
- Appeals against charging notices
- Designation of special sites
- Notification of claimed remediation
- Convictions for offences under Section 78M of the Act
- Guidance issued under Section 78V(1) of the Act
- Other matters prescribed by Regulations
Note that the register will not contain details of historic
land use or any other information used in the identification and
investigation process of potentially contaminated land. Sites,
which have been identified and remediated through the planning and
development control process, will not be on this list.
You will need to make a separate enquiry if you wish to see the
documents associated with the sites listed below.
The register is held at the Environmental Health and Licensing
Service whose address is on this page.
