Planning applications - outline planning permission

This type of planning application is submitted if you want to know whether planning permission will be given, in principle, for the erection of buildings.

If you are unsure of how to complete an application it is preferable that you enter into pre-application discussions to ensure all the information required (refer checklist) to process your application is provided from the start, otherwise your application will be delayed.   Please include copies of any pre-application correspondence or notes.

The advice note below sets out the the information required to be submitted at outline application stage and the matters that may be reserved.

Once outline permission has been granted, you will need to apply for approval of the details (reserved matters) before work can start.

Please note: due to a review of procedures, we will now accept planning applications where only one copy of the application form, plans and other necessary supporting information are provided.

Your completed application form should be accompanied by the checklist below. Any application which does not provide all the required details may not be validated.

For any application involving more than 100 pages of written documentation you are now legally required from 6 April 2010 to include a summary report of the whole scheme of a maximum of 20 pages.

For all Major developments, a full copy of the application on CD would be helpful.  This will allow us to provide electronic copies of the application to all relevant consultees at the earliest opportunity and reduce the possibility of delays in the application process.
