Rochdale Borough Design Awards 2009

Voting has now closed. Thank you for voting!

A building with interesting architectureAs part of the borough’s commitment to, and recognition of, design excellence, we have launched the Rochdale Borough Design Awards.

There will be 2 awards: one decided by the public called the Rochdale Borough People's Design Award and the other decided by a panel of experts in the field called the Rochdale Borough Design Award.

The awards will build on the success of the recently published Oldham and Rochdale Urban Design Guide Supplementary Planning Documents (Adopted September 2007) which have been hailed as an outstanding example of local authority guidance for developers in respect of design issues. They raise the bar in terms of expectations for design in the boroughs, welcoming innovation and excitement in architecture and open space design.

The voting

Nominations were invited and submitted, and seven developments were nominated.

A judging panel of design experts then assessed these schemes in respect of the Rochdale Borough Design Award. Public voting then took place on the website in respect of the People’s Design Award (six developments were voted on as one had been withdrawn).

Voting has now closed and the winners of both the awards will be announced shortly. Thank you for voting.
