Rochdale Canal Festival 2008
A bumper packed week of FREE activities along the
Rochdale Canal - Saturday 19 July - Saturday 26 July

Rochdale Council in association with The Waterways Trust,
British Waterways, The Rochdale Canal Society and Oldham
Council are celebrating the heritage of the Rochdale Canal and are
delivering a bumper packed week of FREE activities along the
Rochdale Canal to kick start the summer holidays!
Come along to any of the events that are running FREE OF CHARGE,
just remember to reserve a place if necessary. The full programme
of activities is listed below:
Saturday 19 July
Rochdale Canal Festival 2008 FUN
DAY
Location: Ealees, Littleborough (by the canal,
opposite the railway station)
Time: 11am – 4pm
Activities: Art Competition announced by the
Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale, boat rides, bouncy castle,
face painting, morris dancing, donkey rides, craft stalls, music by
Littleborough Public Brass band and much, much more! No bookings
necessary. Fun for all the family!
Sunday 20 July
Angling Taster Sessions
Location: Castleton (Behind the George &
Dragon pub) & Failsworth Basin
Time: Between 11am – 4pm
Activities: Learn how to fish – all equipment
provided – prize for the biggest catch!

Tricks of
Nature
Location: Sandbrook
Park
Time: 12pm – 3pm
Activities: Find out what bugs lurk within the
canal and learn a trick or two from the skylight circus! Juggling,
bouncy castle, face painting, nature hunts and lots more! Fun for
all the family! Bookings not required.
Monday 21 July
Canal Trail and Boat Ride
Location: Meet at Smithy Bridge Railway Station
Car Park
Time: 11.30am – 3pm
Activities: Join us on a mystery trail and
experience a boat ride along the Rochdale Canal. Bring along a
packed lunch.

Walk

Family Fun Bike Ride Adventure

Location: Meet at the canal bank, off Canal
Street, Littleborough.
Time: 12.30pm approx return 3.30pm
Activities: Fun family bike ride along the
Rochdale canal making our way towards Castleton and back. Remember
to bring drinks, snacks and your bike! Children must be accompanied
by an adult.
