School places

Putting schools admissions online is an essential part of offering people choice in the way that they access local services. All relevant forms on the September 2009 admissions will be available on this page from September 2008.

On our secure online admissions website you will be able to apply for admission to any local authority maintained Rochdale school for primary reception or transfer to secondary education.

Primary applications

Applications for admissions for the September 2008 year closed in November 2007.

If your child is due to start primary school in September 2009 from September 2008 you will be able to either

  • Apply online
  • Print out, complete and return an application form to Pupil Services Team or to the first preference school directly
  • Get an application form from the Pupil Services Team or the school direct.

Secondary applications

Applications for admissions for the September 2008 year closed in October 2007.

If your child is due to start secondary school in September 2009 and you live within the Rochdale borough boundary from September 2008 you will be able to either:

  • Apply online
  • Print out, complete and return an application form to Pupil Services Team or to the first preference school directly
  • Get an application form from the Pupil Services Team or the school direct.

If you are applying for a secondary school place and do not live in Rochdale you must apply to the Local Authority that you pay your Council Tax to even if you wish to apply for a school in Rochdale. Your home Local Authority will pass on your request for a place to Rochdale for consideration in line with the co-ordinated admissions scheme.

It is important that you carefully read the relevant information on these web pages or in the Transfer to Secondary Education booklet before applying.

If you have any queries regarding the application process, or have any other questions relating to school admissions, please contact the Pupil Services Team for advice before completing an online application.
