The Council maintains: 

• 4 nursery schools  
• 69 primary schools 
• 11 secondary schools and an academy school - St Anne's Academy
• 4 special schools  

There is also a college of further education, Hopwood Hall, which has campuses in Rochdale and Middleton and a NEW sixth form college opening in Rochdale in September 2010.
