Outdoor fun at Langley Children's Centre

Sure Start Children’s Centres in Rochdale provide easy access to a range of community health services, parenting and family support, integrated early education and childcare and links to training and employment opportunities for families with children under five years old.

The children's centres aim to give every under 5 the best start in life and improve their development and learning skills. 

Parents and carers can also access help from teams of professionals including:

  • Midwives/Health visitors
  • Speech therapists
  • Specialists offering advice on employment
  • Specialists in family support.

There are currently 21 operational Sure Start Children’s Centres in Rochdale.  Each centre is well equipped with indoor and outdoor play facilities, meeting rooms for parents and friendly staff to support families.  Find out where you nearest one is on the map on the link below:

How do I access services?

Each centre produces a monthly timetable of activities, run by qualified professionals. You can see each timetable for this month on the individual Children's Centre web pages.  Parents and carers are also encouraged to get involved with their local centre in parents' groups and forums where parents' views are taken into account and form part of the service provision.

Citizens Advice Bureau Financial Advice for parents

For a limited time, parents can access free, impartial and confidential advice from a Citizens Advice Bureau Advisor at Howard Street, Sandbrook, Belfield, Newbold, Langley, Derby Street, Moorhouse and Littleborough Children's Centres.  The sessions are particularly for parents needing financial help or a benefits check to make sure they are claiming what they are entitled to.  Please see below for more details:

Baby LifeCheck

The Baby LifeCheck is an online questionnaire from the NHS to assist parents with babies aged 5 - 8 months old.  The questionnaire covers a range of subjects about health and development and offers top tips and advice along the way.  The questionnaire is confidential and takes about 20 minutes to complete.  There is a designated station set up in various children's centres around Rochdale borough for parents to complete the questionnaire and seek assistance from the centre staff if required.  Please see below for more details:
