Supporting People
Supporting People is a Government programme,
introduced in April 2003, which requires local authorities to fund,
monitor and review housing-related support services for vulnerable
adults. The Supporting People Programme provides a range of housing
related support services to enable vulnerable people to live
independently in the community.
In Rochdale, the Supporting People programme is managed by a
Supporting People Team who work in partnership with other
agencies.

Sheltered Housing
Sheltered housing is a flat or bungalow especially designed and
built with the needs of elderly people in mind. Sheltered housing
is run and maintained by the council and is usually available to
residents in the local area who feel that they require support to
live independently.
