2008 - local election results

Results from the local elections on Thursday 1 May 2008 - Liberal Democrats hold Rochdale.

Summary

The Liberal Democrat group increased their majority on the council, adding an extra seat to their total. There were two Liberal Democrat gains from Labour in Balderstone & Kirkholt and North Heywood. Labour gained a councillor in East Middleton from the Liberal Democrats.

In all other wards the sitting councillors retained their seats.

Overall turnout for the borough: 33.07%

*Cllr David Murphy, existing member for East Middleton has recently had the Labour whip removed.
