Councillors, democracy and elections
The most important decisions affecting how Rochdale Council
serves the 200,000 people who live in its area are taken by
councillors elected by local people.
Councillors set the Council's budget for each year and make
decisions about how the money available is shared out to provide
the services local people need and want.
The Council has more than 10,000 employees to provide its
services, which affect the lives of the local community from the
cradle to the grave.
