Legislation has encouraged an increase in local consultation.
This involves drawing together local partnerships and involving
local people in shaping the future of their communities.
Rochdale Council has repeatedly stated its commitment to
listening to local people. Aiming High, the Council's key policy
document, pledges to 'Always keep the things that matter most to
local people as our priorities'. Similarly, Pride of Place, the
community strategy for the borough, sees 'Local people as active
citizens who shape their future.'
