Heywood Green Infrastructure plan

This consultation has now finished.

Green Infrastructure is the term we use to describe how green spaces, trees and woodlands and water bodies provide benefits and services to support Heywood’s community, economy and environment. These features and areas help to support daily life, health and well-being and future growth in Heywood and its neighbouring towns by providing a variety of environmental services such as recreational space, accessible wildlife, managing flood risk and helping Heywood adapt to climate change.

The draft Heywood Green Infrastructure Plan has been produced to set out how Heywood can gain the maximum benefit from its green spaces and water bodies and be an important part of a bigger Green Infrastructure network providing benefits for Rochdale borough and Greater Manchester.

The Heywood Green Infrastructure Plan will help to deliver the vision and priorities set out in the Heywood Township Plan for delivering the physical regeneration and the prosperity and well being of Heywood’s community. The Plan will be supported by an annually updated work programme, including short, medium and long-term projects, which the Township Committee will endorse.

We would like your views on the draft plan. It would be particularly helpful if you could consider the following questions when responding:

  • Are there any issues we have not addressed but which you feel should be included?
  • What are the important Green Infrastructure issues for you?
  • Do you have any ideas for Green Infrastructure projects in Heywood to deliver benefits in your neighbourhood or the wider Township?
  • Is the document clear?
  • Is the structure of the document right?

The draft document will be available for consultation until Thursday 12 August 2010 at the following venues:

Crimble Croft Community Centre
Darnhill Library (Closed Wednesdays)
Phoenix Centre
Heywood Library
