Core Strategy Preferred Options consultation
This consultation has
now finished.
We are preparing a new plan, called the Core Strategy, to guide
development in the borough up to 2026. It will set a framework for
growth and development in the borough.
Late last year we consulted you on our report on Issues and
Options. This set out what we thought the key issues are in
planning the future of the borough and the options for tackling
those issues. It outlined six spatial options on where new
development could be focused. It offered choices on what and how
much development is needed, and where it could go.
We have considered your views and suggestions and have taken
account of new information. We have now prepared our preferred, but
not final policies. We have called these Preferred Options because
we don't want to finalise them until you have had an opportunity to
tell us what you think of them. You may have other suggestions, or
options, that you would like us to consider.

Next steps
We'll use your comments to help us finalise our proposed Core
Strategy. We plan to publish a draft final version around June
2010. You'll then be able to comment on it before we submit it to
the government. They'll appoint an independent inspector to examine
it and consider any objections, before deciding if it should be
approved.

please telephone us on 01706 924210.
