Core Strategy Preferred Options consultation

This consultation has now finished.

We are preparing a new plan, called the Core Strategy, to guide development in the borough up to 2026. It will set a framework for growth and development in the borough.

Late last year we consulted you on our report on Issues and Options.  This set out what we thought the key issues are in planning the future of the borough and the options for tackling those issues.  It outlined six spatial options on where new development could be focused. It offered choices on what and how much development is needed, and where it could go.

We have considered your views and suggestions and have taken account of new information. We have now prepared our preferred, but not final policies. We have called these Preferred Options because we don't want to finalise them until you have had an opportunity to tell us what you think of them. You may have other suggestions, or options, that you would like us to consider.

We want your views

We would like your comments on the Preferred Options report and other documents by 29 January 2010.

We would like you to respond online: Please use the link above to enter our on-line consultation host 'Limehouse'. Please note, as we've said above, you do not need to register to view the documents. You can then respond to any of the questions in the document, and let us know what you think.  Once we've reviewed your comments we'll make them public, publishing only your name against them. You can also see what others have said and we can e-mail you about progress.

You can also respond by e-mail to: LDF.consultation@rochdale.gov.uk

Alternatively, you can respond by writing to us at: Strategic Planning Services, Rochdale Borough Council, PO Box 32, Telegraph House, Baillie Street, Rochdale OL16 1JH

Next steps

We'll use your comments to help us finalise our proposed Core Strategy. We plan to publish a draft final version around June 2010. You'll then be able to comment on it before we submit it to the government. They'll appoint an independent inspector to examine it and consider any objections, before deciding if it should be approved.

If you have any queries, or problems in responding, please telephone us on 01706 924210.
