Kingsway Area Forum
Kingsway Area Forum is a forum, which was developed in response
to residents and Councillors demand in 2006. It currently meets
quarterly at St Peter's Primary School. It is a public meeting
attended by residents and local organisations. Representatives from
the Police, RoFTRA and the Council are in attendance to respond to
concerns raised. Your local Councillors are also present.
You don't have to be involved in a group to come along - just a
resident of the Kingsway area, who wants to know what's happening
in your area and is interested in how we can improve your services
and surroundings.
What the forum does
- Receives reports from the Council on what is planned in the
area such as road works and Kingsway development.
- Hears updates from the Police and other agencies on what they
are targeting in the area such as youth nuisance,
vandalism and underage drinking.
- Has presentations on topical issues such as youth
activities and Kingsway Business Park.
- Residents raise issues on problems in their area such
as youth nuisance; pot holes in the road; parking issues,
litter and flytipping. (It may take time but we will make every
effort to tackle your problems).
So don't just complain about your area to your friends. Why not
come along to the meeting and share your issues with us all - you
never know there may be an answer!
All minutes from the forums are reported to the Township
Committee meetings. The area forums are considered to be a way of
taking the process of local involvement to a very local level, and
are seen as an informal extension of the Township Committee
meetings. Issues raised at the forums can therefore be raised again
at the Township Committee if needed.

By sending representatives to Rochdale Area Partnership, the
forum also provides an opportunity to voice opinions to the Local
Strategic Partnership, which is shaping the future of the whole
Borough, and all of its services for the next 20 years.
Kingsway Forum meets at St Peters Primary School, Muriel Street.
