Citizen panels

A chance for local people to have their say in local decisions that affect them.

What is the Citizens Panel?

A group of 1,041 people selected from a random sample of 10,000 from all sections within the community which accurately represents the population of the borough of Rochdale. The sample has been designed to include all groups within the community.

  • A group who have agreed to complete a number of surveys on issues which are important to local people.
  • A chance for local people to have their say on a number of issues.
  • A chance for local people to tell the Council what they think is important.
  • A chance for local people to make their views known.

What will the Citizens Panel be used for?

  • To help the Council make the decisions which reflect the wishes of the community.
  • To help the Council and its partners to find out about what local people feel is important.
  • To let local people have their say.
  • To feed into the planning process for future services.
  • To help the Council to provide services local people feel are important.

How does the Citizens Panel work?

  • 10,000 local residents were asked to join in, 1,041agreed to participate.
  • The Council will send members three or four questionnaires a year.
  • Each questionnaire will cover issues of importance to local people.
  • The results will be analysed and panel members, councillors and council officers will be informed what they said.
  • The Council will tell local people what may happen as a result of their comments.
