From Wednesday, 16 May 2018, most people living in the borough who are aged 18 or over and under state pension credit age will not be allowed to make a new claim for Housing Benefit. You'll have to apply for Universal Credit if you need help to pay your rent.
You'll only be allowed to apply for Housing Benefit after Wednesday, 16 May 2018 if you meet one or more of the following criteria:
- You live in one of the following postcode areas: BL9 6, BL9 7 or OL12 8
- You have 3 or more children
- You live in temporary or specified accommodation
- You are over state pension credit age
