Support Plans and Personal Budgets

A Support Plan describes what a person wants to change about their life and how they will use their Personal Budget to make these changes happen.

The local authority has to agree a support plan with the service user and/or carer and agree the outcomes they want to achieve and that must be detailed within the support plan.

Appeals

Every service user or carer has the right to a re-assessment of their needs if Adult Care becomes aware that circumstances have changed.

Every service user or carer will have the right of appeal against the decision in regards to their non approval of the Support Plan or the indicative budget they have been allocated by the Resource Allocations System. However it would be best to avoid an appeal process if the issue can be easily resolved and designated staff will be required to apply their existing knowledge and experience to resolve any issues as they arise.

Before proceeding through an appeals process it should be clear if it is a complaint or an appeal. Where it is a complaint follow the Social Care Services Complaints Procedure.
