Recycling - bags and containers

An Alternate Week Collection service is available to most households within the borough, using either a 140 litre or 240 litre wheeled bin and blue bags. 

Wheeled Bin recycling collection

Plastic bottles, (all types and colours), glass bottles, and jars, plus steel and aluminium cans should be put into the 140 or 240 litre wheeled bin:

All recycling should be rinsed out and placed loose in the bin, (not in bags). Plastic bottles should have the tops removed, (if possible)

Blue Bag paper and cardboard recycling collection

Mixed paper and cardboard is collected in a blue polythene bag, things that can be recycled include:

  • Junk mail A range of different cartons that can be recycled
  • Greeting cards
  • Catalogues, (inc. Argos, Next type)
  • Newspapers
  • Shredded paper
  • Envelopes
  • Flattened cardboard
  • Phone directories and yellow pages
  • Cardboard packaging
  • Food and Drink cartons, (pictured) remenber to 'wash and squash'

All the recycling should be placed loose into the bag, (shredded paper should be put into a large envelope or cereal packet, (not in plastic bags).
