Marriage - registering a building of worship
To register a place of meeting for religious worship under the
Places of Worship Registration Act, 1855 you will need to complete
two 'Form 76s'. You can also pick up this form from Rochdale
Register Office.
Form 76 -
Form for certifying a place of meeting for religious worship under
the Places of Worship Registration Act 1855 (165kb pdf
file)
The forms can be signed by any person who can represent the
congregation and returned to Rochdale Register Office with the
following:
- A floor plan of the building. This does not need to be
professionally drawn or to scale, but must shown all rooms,
doorways, floors and staircases.
- An average weekly timetable of religious and any other
activities that take place at the building. This must also include
any other activities not run by the congregation. This is to allow
the Registrar General to be satisfied that the building is used
permanently for religious worship.
- A fee of £28, which is the statutory fee payable when you
submit your application.
