Borough of Rochdale Fund
The Borough of Rochdale Fund is managed by the Community
Foundation of Greater Manchester and aims to support local
community groups and individuals throughout the borough.
Organisations or groups that run projects or activities which
address any or all of the fund’s eight priority themes below, may
be eligible to apply for a grant up to £5,000.
The eight priority themes are:
- Community cohesion including issues of race and disability
- Culture, sports and arts
- Health and well being
- Lifelong learning including early years and schools
- Prosperity, skills and jobs
- Safety, including crime and disorder
- Sustainable neighbourhoods including the environment and
housing
- Transport

Grassroots Programme
The purpose of The Grassroots Fund is to encourage and support
small local informal voluntary and community groups and
organisations, many of whom are dependent on volunteers.
The Grassroots Fund programme will be
available for local organisations for a period of three years from
summer 2008 to March 2011
Grant money can be used to fund a wide range of
activities, including equipment and core running costs.
Applicants must:
- Have an average income of less than £30,000
or
- Have been established at least 12 months
before applying
- Demonstrate a local need for their
project
The maximum grant request that will be considered is
£5,000 and the minimum is
£250.
