Children and family care
The Child and Family Support Service help vulnerable children
under 16 and their families. For example, the team can help
children in care, children who face a serious risk of going into
care, and children whose parents are struggling to cope. The
services provided include behaviour management; positive parenting;
help with household management; and individual work with children,
young people, parents and carers. You can contact us yourself or
someone else can do this for you for example: a doctor, health
visitor, teacher or relative.
Who we can help
The Children's Social Care Service provides or arranges
services for the most vulnerable children and young people and also
provides or arranges services for young people when they leave
care.

What does it cost?
We do not charge for information, advice or assessing your
needs.
If we arrange any services for you, you may be asked to pay some
or all of the cost. This will be explained before any arrangements
are made.
Aims of the Children's Social Care service
Children's Social Care is the new name used to describe the
range of services for children, young people and families. The
Children's Social Care service aims to:
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young
people
- Protect children from abuse
- Help families to bring up their children in their own homes
wherever possible
- Provide high quality care for young children in public
care
- Prepare young people for adult life
- Provide a range of support services to children with
disabilities and their families
- Prevent youth crime
- Address the racial, cultural and religious needs of children
and families.
