Trader approval schemes

Rochdale Fair Trading Scheme (FTS) aims to establish a trading environment of a high standard which gives confidence in Rochdale businesses. The scheme is managed, monitored, and administered by Rochdale Trading Standards. Members of the FTS will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to trade fairly and honestly. Meeting the minimum standards of quality set out in the code of practice and scheme guidance document.

Helping the consumer buy with confidence

The scheme aims to create a trading environment where consumers can buy goods or services with confidence from traders. All applicants will be subject to vetting by Rochdale Trading Standards. Applicants wishing to join the scheme must have permanent business premises within Rochdale Council boundaries, satisfy strict assessment criteria and must demonstrate that they have in place, a method for dealing efficiently and effectively with complaints.

Rochdale Trading Standards want the scheme to be of huge benefit to consumers shopping for goods and services in Rochdale. It is therefore hoped, that as Membership grows, the confidence in reputable traders will increase and the number of complaints about rogue traders will reduce.
