Careers advice and job hunting help is available in the
borough's libraries.
The government's National Careers Service is available
free to every adult in England. It provides information, careers
and skills advice that’s tailored to you.
There are several UK Online Centres offering a range of basic IT
courses and other help.
We can give you free help getting a job:
- Information, advice and guidance
- Help with application forms and CV writing
- Help with job searches and interview techniques
- Identifying training needs and devising personal action
plans.
We provide services in one to one interviews at either the
Employment Links Centre or at borough wide outreach bases.
Learning through work allows working people to gain university
qualifications without leaving the work place. It is designed for
individuals as well as work based groups.

Dedicated advice, information and support to stay in or return
to employment.
The FIS helps working parents with childcare issues and
advice on the financial help available towards childcare reducing
the risk of leaving employment due to childcare needs. They
can also advise employers on family friendly working practices to
aid recruitment and retention of staff.
