Planning - environmental policies
The council will seek to ensure that the
location and impact of new development is regulated in the
interests of good environmental management. Development that helps
to make Rochdale a cleaner and safer place will be encouraged and
permitted.
The council will seek the minimum practicable
levels of ground, air, water and noise pollution from all
developments and will ensure that existing levels of pollution in
the borough are progressively reduced as resources or opportunities
permit.
Development and land use activities will be
expected to safeguard public safety and the natural environment,
including water-courses and flood plains.
