Listed building consent

When works are proposed on a listed building applicants are required to submit a separate listed building application alongside an application for planning permission.

Your completed application form (3 copies) should be accompanied by the relevant checklist.  You should indicate on the checklist the information you have provided and which information you do not consider relevant to your application.  Please note, however, that any application which does not provide all the required details may not be validated.

There is no fee for Listed Building Consent.

For complex developments, a full copy of the application on CD would be helpful.  This will allow us to provide electronic copies of the application to all relevant consultees at the earliest opportunity and reduce the possibility of delays in the application process.

Building Regulations

You should also be aware that Building Regulations are often needed for developments given Planning Permission. You should consult with our Building Regulations Service to determine whether a building regulations application is required.

Design and Access Statements

Please remember that all applications must be accompanied by a Design and Access Statement, the only exceptions are listed below.

  • Householder development not in a Conservation Area.
  • Change of use without operational development.
  • Engineering or mining operations
  • Advertisement consent.
  • TPO works
  • Hazardous substances consent.
