Debt counselling
The Advice Service provides free and confidential advice on all
aspects of debt and assist Rochdale residents who are experiencing
multiple debt problems.
We can assist with:
- Mortgage/rent arrears
- Council Tax/Utility arrears
- Loan, credit card, charge card and catalogue debts
- Bankruptcy, administration orders, individual voluntary
arrangements
- Problems with bailiffs and debt collectors
- Fines
- Hire purchase debt
We also have specialist workers who
- Represent residents in the County Court in proceedings relating
to any of the above matters.
- Provide training on debt issues to voluntary sector
groups.
We have produced in conjunction with
CAB
a self-help pack, for those who
wish to use it.
The Advice Service also assists people with housing problems and
welfare rights issues – see the related links about the help we can

We can give you general advice about welfare benefits, debt or
housing issues via our Advice Line. If the problem is
complicated then we can make you an appointment at one of our
advice sessions, see related pages for a list of venues throughout
the borough. If we think that your case will need ongoing
work then it will be allocated to a specific worker.

benefits information.

Citizens’ Advice Bureau information on people’s rights.

independent, not-for-profit website providing information on
rights and legal issues.
