Council - performance indicators
Best Value Performance Plan
The Best Value Performance Plan (BVPP) describes the Council’s
main activities and achievements for the past year and gives a
brief overview of what we intend to do to improve services during
the current year. The plan also compares our performance results to
other councils nationally by means of inspection results and
performance indicators.
Best Value is a way of continuously improving the way Councils
and other public organisations work. It is about providing the
services the local community wants at a price they and their
Councillors are prepared to pay. Councils have to compare their
performance against that of other local authorities and other
service providers to ensure that the people and businesses in their
areas are receiving 'best value'.
We hope that Best Value will encourage people to become
more involved in local government, thereby making us more
responsive to peoples' needs. It will strengthen our links
with the community, business and voluntary organisations, and will
therefore reduce the number of people currently unable to access
the Council's services.
Each year, we produce a Best Value Performance Plan (or BVPP)
showing our performance in the previous year and our targets for
the coming year. The Performance Plan contains details of a number
of performance indicators that councils throughout England &
Wales use to monitor and compare their services. The targets
and results for these
BVPI
s are summarised in each
year's Best Value Performance Plan.
