Our Commitment to you

Rochdale Registrar's Department have set out their service standards which are listed below.

  • You will be greeted at our reception point and your time of arrival will be recorded.
  • If you telephone our service, your call will be answered within 6 rings.
  • We aim to see all our customers at their appointment time, but if we are running late we aim to see you within 10 minutes of your appointment time.
  • If you have called without an appointment or arrive more than 10 minutes late for your appointment we aim to see you the same day, or if you prefer, we can book an appointment to suit you.
  • We aim to offer you an appointment within 2 days to register a death or still birth and within 3 days to register a birth.
  • We aim to offer you an appointment to register your marriage or civil partnership within 5 days of your request.
  • If you are applying for a replacement copy certificate in person and are able to supply full details, we aim to issue the certificate within 20 minutes of receipt of your application.
  • If you are applying for a copy certificate in person for family history purposes, we aim to issue the certificate within 24 hours providing you have provided sufficient information.
  • If you are applying by post or e-mail for a copy certificate and have provided sufficient information and the correct fee, we aim to process your application the same day.
  • Comment cards are available in all reception areas to give us feedback on how we meet our service standards.
  • Should things go wrong and you wish to make a complaint, our corporate complaints procedure is displayed in all reception points or you can see a member of staff for further advice.
