Education grants and benefits
The Government guarantees a free part-time early education place
to every three and four year old child.
Parents or guardians of pupils who are on a low income may
be entitled to help.
These allowances are intended to assist students with
disabilities to benefit as fully as possible from their course.
In some circumstances, pupils will be able to claim travelling
expenses to school.
Education Maintenance Awards
The Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) scheme closed to new
applicants on 1 January 2011. Schools, colleges and training
providers have funds to help you if you’re studying or starting a
full-time course and face financial hardship. For advice speak to
student support services or your tutor.
