The Community Covenant grant scheme has been set up to fund local projects which strengthen the ties or the mutual understanding between members of the Armed Forces Community and the wider community in which they live.
Over £30 million over 4 financial years has been set aside to help communities across the country to undertake projects that promote greater understanding between the military and civilian populations.
Organisations from across Rochdale Borough are eligible to bid to this grant scheme. Funding of between £100 - £250,000 is available to individual projects under this scheme, with bids considered 3 times a year.

What type of project is eligible?
Many types of project might be supported by this fund. For a list of suggestions please see the Armed Forces Covenant criteria and terms.
Examples quoted include:
- A local infrastructure project such as a children's playground which might be used by children from Service accommodation and the wider community.
- An exhibition.
- An outreach project one off activities such as an activity camp.
- A project that will increase the integration of service personnel, veterans and their families within their community.
What do projects have to deliver?
The grants scheme will consider applications for projects that deliver tangible results and meet the overall aims of the Community Covenant Scheme.
Applications need to show a demonstrable benefit to both the Armed Forces and the civilian community, promote closer ties or a greater understanding of the military in the local community.
