Trading Standards:

  • Ensure a fair trading environment through goods and services being accurately measured, described, priced and advertised.
  • Prevent unsafe goods from entering the market place.
  • Ensure quality food standards and promote healthy food choices for consumers.
  • Protect children from harm and prevent nuisance caused by young people from access to age restricted goods.
  • Disrupt traders making, importing or selling counterfeit or contraband goods.
  • Prevent people from becoming victims of doorstep crime and rogue traders in their own home.
  • Reduce crime and disorder in the nighttime economy.

We visit, inspect, and test products and services in accordance with our Enforcement Policy. Our role is to protect the interests of both consumers and businesses in the borough.
