Homelessness - advice and support
Rochdale is committed to preventing, wherever possible,
homelessness occurring, but in those cases where it does, provide a
comprehensive assessment, support and resettlement service which is
responsive to the needs of clients and that is aimed at preventing
re-occurrence of homelessness.
Homelessness Advice Centre
We can offer advice, information and
assistance to you if you are already homeless or may become
homeless.
Homelessness Prevention Officers are available
who can offer assistance to people who:
- Have problems with rent or mortgage
payments.
- Have a problem with their landlord or have
been asked to leave .
- Are experiencing domestic violence or
harassment from people visiting your home.
- Feel that you need support, advice or
assistance that will enable you to resolve any issue that is
threatening your ability to keep your home.
- Need help to try and find somewhere to
live and give advice about the housing options available to enable
you to do this.
We offer a wide range of advice and practical
support and can help people to access specialist services and
support. We offer assistance with liaison with landlords and
mortgage lenders, to access benefits and assist with the management
of debt problems. We can guide you through housing
related legal processes and ensure that you are supported in
getting good housing related advice. The service works with a wide
range of services and agencies across the borough and has assisted
many people who have previously struggled to access and maintain
long term housing.
We can provide resettlement support for
homeless young people and families moving into a new tenancy or
alternatively direct you to one of a range of supported
accommodation units for single homeless people.
Contact the Homelessness Advice Centre to get
help – an appointment system is in operation but in an emergency
you do not need an appointment.
