Council tax benefit - new claim
Council Tax Benefit is a national welfare benefit which helps
people on low incomes.
- Council Tax Benefit is paid to people with a low income who pay
Council Tax.
There are two types of Council Tax Benefit.
- Main Council Tax Benefit
- Second Adult Rebate
Council Tax Benefit is a means-tested benefit. This means that
when we work out your benefit we have to take account of things
like your income, investments and savings.
Local councils run Council Tax Benefit schemes using
government rules.
